Dear All, Jens

just for information: in our thinlinc environment we are using
- 100 x Shuttle XS35GS V2 (single head, no fan)
- 30 X NUC (dual head, fan)
The NUC is cheaper but
- has a (very very low noise) fan ... probably, the fan will break one day,
- no analog Audio out/in.
We have one NUC which freezes from time to time - we hope this is not a
general problem.
We've installed most of the 30 NUC this week, so until now, we have no
'big' experience with the NUC. Please let us know about your NUC experience.
Regarding your Keyboard / XKB Problem: same to us.
Our environment: The Thinclients (NUC, Shuttle) detect the KBD Layout
(US, DE, SG, FR) and activate the correct one before the thinlinc
session will be opened/reconnected. This is fine (especially for
hotdesking) as long the user won't switch inside the session.
As GUI we use MATE 1.6 (based on Ubuntu 12.04) with a very good user
acceptance - looks similar to Ubuntu 10.04 / Gnome 2.x which our users
used before. No Unity - no hassle.
Unfortunately:
- 'Alt- Tab' (swiching task) is unusable,
- 'Ctrl -Alt - <left>|<right>' (switching workspace) needs double pressing,
- Standard Mate Screensaver is ok but not configurable.
Writing to USB Sticks: we use the 32-bit tlclient, cause the 64-bit is
broken: https://www.cendio.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=4592
Thanks
Carsten
