just a wild guess, but in connection with opennssl 1.0.1 and ldap
there seem to be issue with TLSv1.2 (just spent some quality time
with our omnios server. Have you tried

/etc/ldap/ldap.conf

TLS_CIPHER_SUITE TLSv1:!aNULL:!eNULL:!EXPORT
